Bad reviews of the AI Pin point out how it can't replace a phone. AdvertisementI was excited for the AI Pin, I really was. Unfortunately, the reviews of the AI Pin so far have been dreadful. I don't stare at my phone in a restaurant, a movie theater, or while talking to someone. I don't think my consciousness will ascend to a higher plane if I could only tear myself away from the 2,000-nit light of my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Danny Frenkel, the CEO of comedy startup PunchUp Live, said the industry had a pretty standard path to success. Comics would aim to score a special on Comedy Central, Netflix, or HBO to become a big headliner at large venues. But Frenkel said the problem was comedians were '"renting" those audiences from social-media platforms. PunchUp helps comedians navigate social-media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Check out PunchUp Live's 19-page pitch deck:Note: PunchUp redacted financial projections originally included in the deck.

The company has discussed making a smart ring, though it's not actively working on the product, Bloomberg reported. It's also exploring whether it should make smart glasses and put tiny cameras onto AirPods that could bring AI benefits, the report said. Apple has issued a number of patents for smart glasses and smart rings in the past dating back at least 10 years. Apple has also had early discussions about creating smart glasses as a possible alternative to AirPods, the report said. A smart ring would also be a competitor for Oura, and newcomer Samsung's upcoming Galaxy smart ring that it plans to release later this year, which is designed to keep track of health metrics.

A look at the Neuralink brain chip. Apple is set to launch its Vision Pro headset on Friday in what it describes as its big foray into "spatial computing." That space is essentially your head, with the Vision Pro built to create a canvas that emerges before your eyes while you wear it. question, the Vision Pro is also a response to the growing suite of headgear that Mark Zuckerberg has been creating at Meta. Products include the mixed reality Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 3, which, like the Vision Pro, are designed to be worn over your head.

Meta's smart glasses partnership with Ray-Ban is here, and I wore them for a Friday night out. For the smart glasses, the powered-up case is similar to that of bluetooth earbuds. Here are some of my takeaways from a night with the Meta Ray Ban smart glasses — with pictures, of course. When I put on the Meta smart glasses, my friends posed for pictures. Jordan HartMeta founder Mark Zuckerberg may believe smart glasses are the future, but they reminded me of a relic from the past.
